What this is

SixThirty Scenes is a list of things worth going to in your city, twice a week, free. It goes out in a WhatsApp community for each city, on Instagram, and here on the website.

Half past six is when the city changes shift: work ends, the talk starts, the lights go up. That is the hour the list is built around.

Volunteers run it. There is no office and almost no money in it.

How we pick

Picked by people

A volunteer reads what is on and chooses six to ten events. No feed, no ranking by popularity.

Checked at the source

Before an event goes out, someone opens the organiser's own page and confirms the date, the time, the venue, the price and whether you need to register.

Access markers only when confirmed

We show step-free entry, an accessible toilet, seating or sign language only when a source, the organiser or a venue record says so. We never guess, and we never infer one from another. Where nobody has told us, the page says access is not confirmed.

Corrections within 2 hours

Tell us something is wrong and we fix the page and post a correction in the community within 2 hours of reading your message.

No paid placement

Nothing is listed because someone paid. If that ever changes, the listing will say so in plain words.

AI-assisted drafting, disclosed

We use AI to read public event pages, pull out the facts and draft wording. A person checks every pick at its source before it goes out, and access markers are never written by AI: they come from the data. AI-made pictures are labelled as AI-made.

Where the events come from

Public listings from venues, organisers and institutions; tips from volunteers; and events that organisers send us. We fetch pages politely: we respect robots.txt, we slow down to one request every five seconds per site, and we say who we are.

We write listings in our own words and link back to the source. If you are an organiser and want an event taken down, tell us and we will remove it within 48 hours.
